Hi all,
After months of slow progress my gearbox is again in the car and mostly
functional. During a slight bout of Shipwrights I decided to replace the
thermostat housing and, after much penetrene and praying, managed to
separate it from the head. What is the poop on fitting the new one?
Never seize on the studs is a safe bet, how about the gasket cement - is
anything special done here. And how about the temp sender, the threads
in the old housing were rotted away (is this due to electrolysis between
the ally and the brass sender or just age), what do people use here;
nothing, plumbing tape, a gasket sealer of some type?
On the hat issue, it would be nice to find a font for the word "SUNBEAM"
that is close to the badges on the Alpine.
Cheers
Paul.
