i have mine suspended from the ceiling of my garage from two eye hooks. one
side has a strap hanging vertically to the final clearance height. into
this strap is a ~15-long tie-down rachet strap that i run through the top
at the top of b-post corner. the weight of the top is mostly forward so it
rests uncomfortably on the tie down strap as i rachet the top up from the
car so i can perform this one man raising and lowering maneuver. winter
stowage is on the car, but it works great during the summer for relatively
easy access.
notes:
you may have to trim excess strap from the tie down to get all of it you
need to fit within the rachet space given.
make sure you are securely anchored in ceiling joists. guess who's eye
bolt(s) weren't. i am currently repairing the damage to the top. those
little protrusions from the either the anchor plate for the b-post area or
the rear spikes to the trunk brackets make nasty scratches in the trunk
deck.
secure the top while raise forward to the front (wall or ceiling) of the
top to avoid having it flip out of the tie down strap when you back out
with the antenna up.
buy an electric motorized antenna. make sure its down upon ingress or
egress. take it from one experienced in these matters.
anyone with a good spare hardtop or trunk lid for sale?
