I agree with Ron Tebo. Also on being thinner I would wonder how the
lubricating quality for the gears would be since they were designed for motor
oil use. I believe also the transmission noise would be greater. The high
detergent properties of ATF would certainly keep the insides clean! Some
manual transmissions did use ATF. Chrysler did in the late 70's early 80's.
The shifting would be easier on very cold mornings. With using it in the OD
trans. I would stick with motor oil. Pressure for the OD from the pump can be
affected.
