I would wonder too, because I've just done the same to my Series II. I
don't see any reason why it should matter, though. Maybe you should run
a little loose while the engine is breaking in? Maybe you just reached
the 500mi break-in point without realizing it?

I put the car in 4th, and roll it to make the valves move. That way I
can work each valve through a full stroke by hand just by moving the car
a little. I made a little diagram to help me make sense of what I found
was a very confusing description in the Workshop Manual:
