I think it's important to have a standarized look to the hat to the point that they should all look the same and be the same color for easy recognition at events. The blue is a great choice. Next step is picking a thread color. As these are being purchased, the buyer could pick their own hat & thread color. However, a standarized look means easy identification at events which is the main purpose of the hat.

The only problem with this is a second setup. It will add about $3 to the cost of the hat. Since we dropped Alpine from the front of the hat, it should lower the sewing time and overall cost. If someone did not want to spend the extra for the 2nd Alpine, that's not problem as the hats are done on a one-by-one basis.

I don't have a source for that exact hat (the material) but I can do a blue low-profile in a soft cotton with no problem. I will use that hat to do the next sample.

Obviously reading my mind, this is the next step. I need to work a little on
the design and maybe try to digitize from the graphic online. My equipment
does have some limitations. One of those is lettering. If I use a built-in
font, the letters look good. If I try to digitize letters they look horrible.
I can get close to the Alpine on the side in a script, but it won't be exact.
A big problem is doing the alpines(at)autox.team.net in a straight line at the bottom of the hat. To make it fit, I have to use a very small font that makes it hard to read. Let me try doing it both straight and curved in my sample and see what you guys think.
Geocites (my web site), has had problems the last few days with slow loading. I hope they have it fixed by the time I post some pictures. Will work on this this weekend.

I agree, I will try working on a design that is closer to #3. The other was just a mockup to get things rolling.
I'll get busy.
