The Alpine is a unibody car, with a ladder frame AND an X frame underneath. All welded together to form a very stiff structure.

I think the reason for using non-detergent oil is that it is less likely to foam at high RPM's than std. detergent types. However, it also does not keep your engine as clean. Unless you're racing, you are probably O.K.
