I remember when I first rebuilt my series 1 (back in 1972), I had to use a 190 deg thermostat in the winter and then change it to a 170 deg in the summer. My engine seem to run a bit too hot in the summer using the 190. I remember driving the Alpine in the winter when it got down below "0" and it probably could have used an even higher (200deg) thermostat. I'm glad cars are not build like that anymore. Jan
