Being a New England native I didn't believe that a car could really be rust-free. As soon as I arrived, shortly after dark, I was crawling around with a portable light looking in every nook and cranny. I am sure Bob was laughing at my amazement. It seems to me though that it's much harder for you West coast folks to work on your cars. Back East we can just hand tools to each other right through the trunk and floor boards. A real time saver!
Bob also has done an outstanding job of rebuilding the engine. It is a work of art and with those flat top pistons and Holbay head it should be a real runner.
As to congratulating Bob's wife I wouldn't jump the gun there. He's gonna have a wrecked Ford Explorer or pickup filling that spot in fairly short order.
My thanks go out to Bob and his family who were very hospitable during my stay out there. He even let me have a spin in Herbeam. My first Alpine drive in a long long time. Hopefully next time I am out that way, I can meet a few other Alpiners.

Congratulations Kurt on your new SIII from Bob! I've seen pictures and a video of the car and it looks like a great find. How about some Colin Cob-esque details on the tow home? I guess congratulations goes to Bob as well; your wife must be happy.
