never sought after by Performance people. I man in San Diego has a very
nice restored one painted Red with Chrome Wire Wheels and could not sell it
for $6000. They make very nice little convertibles for someone in the
market for stock or convertible but with a 83 hp engine and 3 spd auto with
the 389 rear they are the ultimate alpine slug. However.....that tunnel is
huge and you could put anykind modern day transmission in it, along with a _
_ engine! If the price is right /no rust/straight and you like it buy it!
Smitty has about 10 automatics up on the shelf....it is a borg warner 35 and
was used in 60's Jaguars/70's Datsuns.....I have some technical information
on it from various books...Parts are still around and its easy to work on
