Alpine vs. 911

Chris, as an owner of an early 911 and an Alpine, I must respond to your
post. First, I agree with you 100% that the cars are very different. The
four banger open air zippy experience of the Alpine cannot be beat. But
then the experience of teutonic precision and power of the 911, its
flawless beauty, and the way it lets you execute each manuever, cannot be
beat either. Fortunately, I have been able to keep both, and if forced to
choose one, I could never decide. Well, there is of course the 1967
convertible (targa with removable rear window, which was not removable
after 1967) 912 that I've been scanning the papers for with teutonic four
banger open air precision . . . .
As to your comment "It's just a Beetle with two extra cylinders." You
really should not make such comments. It is not true and causes Porsche
owners (many of whom are not all bad) to think less of your opinions.
Fortunately, you own an Alpine, so I know your opinions are mostly in tact.
