Stromberg Rebuild

I am rebuilding my Stromberg CD 150. The Royze rebuild kit came with a new
brass jet. Where the jet meets the needle in the throat of the carb, the
old one was chamfered but the new one is not. Does this matter? Also, the
top of the jet is not flush with the floor of the carb throat. It is
recessed a bit. If I removed the washer from the jet assembly, the jet
could be screwed in a little more and it would be flush with the bottom of
the throat. I don't see any specs for this in my shop manual, rebuild kit
instructions, or Stromberg manual. Does any of this really matter? Before
the rebuild the darned thing seemed to run the same no matter what I did to
the carbs.
Thanks,
Chris
