Yes, british cars (or at least sprigets, and alpines) use pointy tooth splines.
I have seen very used sets of hubs that have the pointy teeth worn or bent into a ramp shape, where the slope of the tooth was not symetrical. Those seem to signify the end of the line for both hub and wheel.
