Wire Wheels

In viewing the e-mails that were sent over the last week, I saw that
someone suggested a pin for the wire wheels. This seems extremely do-able,
and for much less than new hubs at $250 a piece, and more durable than
adding material to the existing splines. It seems to me that it would be
very easy to have two holes drilled in each wheel and corresponding pins
drilled and pressed into drums and rotors. Any thoughts?

Someone thought hubs are not available for all cars. I have confirmed that
they are available for all Series, and they are custom made from scratch,
not converted from any other cars, nor rebuilt worn ones.

The MG/AH Spridget wires are the only ones that are the same as the Alpine.
There have been people who have fitted MGB wires on Alpines. But I have
been told by Valley Wire Wheel that the width of the hubs (how far it is
from the drum to the spinner edge) are not the same, and the angle of the
rear of the hub and the angle of the rear of the wheel where the two mate
are not the same. As a result it is not supposed to be a really sound fit.

I have heard that the Spridget hubs are bolted on - not integrated to the
hub like the 'clearly superior' Alpine ones are. I wonder if there is some
way to have them bolted on to Alpine rotors and drums. It may be close to
impossible to get them centered, and they would certainly widen the track
somewhat. But, anyone have any thoughts on that?
