                                              GOOD NEWS FOR SERIES
                                       1 THROUGH IV ALPINES

By Ed Esslinger
Two years ago, I wrote an article extolling the merits of the PerTronix
IGNITOR. I have driven to the last three uniteds in three different Sunbeams
all equipped with the IGNITOR and have had no problems whatsoever .I now
have five Sunbeams with the IGNITOR installed.
In my previous article on this subject, I reported that the IGNITOR was
only available for negative ground cars, which was true at that time. Fact
is I converted my series three to negative ground just so I could use the
IGNITOR .
Now the good news for those of you that want to keep your Sunbeam stock
(positive ground) PerTronix now makes an IGNITOR for positive ground
Sunbeams.
Maybe you are new to TE/AE and ask what the heck is an IGNITOR?
It is a electronic ignition system, smaller than your thumb that replaces
your points and condenser and fits entirely in your existing distributor,
using your existing coil. Your engine will stay in tune, as there are no
points to go out of adjustment, you will have higher voltage out of your
coil, due to increased dwell time, you will have better fuel economy and
your spark plugs will last much longer. They are dependable made in the USA
and have a two and a half year warranty.
As I stated in my previous article on this subject I have no financial
interest in this product, but would like to thank C.B.S. Performance
Automotive for providing IGNITORS as door prizes for past uniteds.
C.B.S. sells the negative ground IGNITOR for $79 the positive ground
IGNITOR for $89
If you tell them you are a member of TE/AE or mention Sunbeam they will give
you a $10 discount .and ship it free. Call them at 1-800-685-1492 and thank
them for supporting TE/AE.
