That's the one thing I really wish Rootes had done with that fixed
quarterlight - made it pivotal. Now that would have been a nice touch.

Subject: Fiat Spyder windshield
I was once at a junk yard where an alpine (orchid green/yellow elephant snot
color) was parked next to a Fiat Spyder convertible. I removed the
windshield and frame from the alpine and measured the distance across...I
then measured the distance across the Fiat Spyder..the same. I took off the
windshield and frame from the Fiat and low and behold. .... the two bolts
that secure it to the car body went into the alpines securing holes. It
really looked like with a little bit of work you could make it fit on the
Alp, I also removed the side window, vent window and hardware from the Fiat,
I removed the alpine doors guts and compared Fiat Vs. Alpine. Low and behold
the fiat vent window(operational) was very similar to the alpine except that
the angle to match the windshield made the vent wider and the glass would
have to be re made for the alpine door. It looked like it would be a good
conversion....possibly melding the top parts from both tops to clamp on top
of the fiat windshield.
Has anybody every done this, thought of this, looked at this? The only
drawback would be it would not work with the hardtop...but I'll bet alot of
that 70mph wind noise would be gone!!!!
