Temperture Gauge

Yesterday as I was running my engine after the ignition installation, I
let it run for about 10 minutes. I ran the RPMs up to about 3500-4000
every few minutes. When I turn on the key the Temp. Gauge jumps to 90
and has yet to move from there. Is 10 min. enough time for the engine
to heat up sufficiently to move above 90 or is my sender unit bad?

How do I determine is the sending unit or the gauge is bad?
BTW, I haven't even checked to see if there is a thermostat yet. Guess
I better do that first.

Thanks for your help.
Rob
