At one time, I had several repair kits for these, but I think I have traded
all of them.. The innards simply consist of two contacts that connect with
each other when the stem is pulled out. Here is a crude diagram

This diagram does a poor job of illustrating, but the pull knob has a raised
area that pushes the bottom contact up to the top to make the connection.
Several things you can try: 1. Clean the contacts 2. Bend the contacts so
that they make good connection when engaged.

Of course, the easiest and most reliable way to cure the problem is to
simply connect the blower to a toggle switch. Most cars that I have seen do
not use the left most toggle hole or have re routed the blower to a toggle
that has been added there.
