Today was a busy day in my garage. I started off trying to get the
brake bleeder screws off. 3 came right out but one had been stripped by
the DPO. I would with that one for about an hour before I finally went
to the store and bought a small pipe wrench. 10 minutes later it was
out. (should have done that before) I replace all of the bleeder
screws, including the clutch slave with Russell Performance Speed
Bleeder Screws. (neat stuff).
After replacing the bleeders, I bled the clutch and for the first time
in the 10 months I have owned my car I was able to shift gears. While
doing this I had to unstick my clutch. Taking a tip I read at
mossmotors.com technical tips, I was able to unstick the clutch and
shift away. (up on jack stands).
While trying to bleed the brakes, first I removed all the bleeders and
ran compressed air throught the lines to clean them out. Then I put in
new brake fluid.
I was never able to get pressure. I was able to get fluid out all of
the bleeders, but it was really gunky so I kept pumping until it cleared
up. Used a whole large bottle of fluid and Im still not done. Need
more.
I replaced my distributor cover and new spark plug wires. Fired her up
and went for a 10 minute drive on the stands. Ran much better.
I replaced the gasket on the valve cover.
Next week or two we come off the stands and drive around the parking lot
at my office, and maybe up and down the street.
Excited.
