At one of the Bristish Car Festivals (in DesPlaines near Chicago) several
years ago, someone was showing Sunbeam gas tanks that had been tin plated
and were guaranteed not to rust, leak, or peel.

I don't now know who it was but perhaps someone from the Chicago area might
know.
