Alpine windscreens (at least SIII/IV/V ones) are also made in Australia. I
never thought to compare my repro screen with my original before giving the
original away, but I didn't have any undue difficulty putting it all
together, leading me to think ours might be nearer to the original
thickness. Maybe those from South Africa are cheaper?
