Tim, I'm not sure if that makes sense. The Du Pont Centari (acrylic
enamel w/gloss hardener additive) is a single stage material, but really
doesn't need a clear coat (one can clearcoat if desired, extra $$). If
one is to add a clearcoat, color sanding would be benificial to remove
dust particals. Usually, one coat of clear is sufficent. I can't figure
why they do three?  What are they doing?
Then you say, "...Other places with two and three stage cost a lot more
- twice as much at least...", however, I can't agree. The two stage
material (basecoat/clearcoat) is the latest technology that everyone is
using for auto refinishing and I would say the most economic paintjob
(in terms of material costs/labor and finish gloss). The three stage
system includes the luxury pearl finishes. I'm baffled about what this
shop said. It sounds backwards.
