Two thoughts. First, I am using a solid state fuel pump and ran the power
line to the pump through the panel switch. Actually, I bought a new
headlight switch instead since the stock panel switch does not take as much
power as the headlight switch. I took the panel light switch wiring and
put them together so that the panel lights always go on when the lights are
on - I never have figured out why so many car builders see a need to
dedicate a separate switch to this. Maybe just to save the gauge bulbs
when running headlights in the day. With this set up, the switch marked
"Panel" has to be flipped to start the car. It is a quick and simple
precaution.

I used to use a lock between the steering wheel and the brake pedal. But,
I stopped that for two reasons. I saw a clip on TV where they showed how
easy it is to pry these off of the steering wheel. We also know that
pulling the pin on the brake pedal will also release it in a second - rest
assured most thieves know this too.

My second thought is 'why?' Do you really think that a 30 year old Sunbeam
Alpine worth $10,000 max, and probably less, is what thieves are out for?
We all know that it's the 5-10 year old Japanese cars that are the hottest
to steal for the value of their parts. I know we all love our cars. But,
I am willing to speculate that they are not likely to be stolen. A joy
ride may be more of an issue - but that's going to happen because your kid
and his or her friends sneak off with the keys. Either that or a Tiger
owner in need of a front clip.

Ok, this has just been my humble opinion. Besides, I did wire my fuel pump
shut off switch. Feel free to disagree.
