I leave the top down and the doors unlocked when I park. I don't leave
anything inside worth having. I do have tools and such in the trunk, but
they've never been touched. ( knock on head, wood, etc.) I know I'm lucky
but I'd rather have someone reach in and steal that lighter out of the
console than cut the top and so on, only to find there is nothing worth
taking, which makes them mad and they key the paint or something. Most
thieves won't take the entire car. First of all anyone that takes it has to
keep it running. Most of the Sunbeams are truly novel looking and the
thieves don't want to draw immediate attention to themselves. (You know how
everyone looks at your car when you drive down the street) I'd say the
tricked out BMW, with the door locks, the windows and top up, and the high
tech security system turned on is more likely to become the victim of a car
theft than you are. (Ask any insurance agent) This is not to say that you
should give up all prudence in the matter. Park in a fairly visible area.
Don't take it to the worst part of town and leave it overnight. Use a
little precaution but it's only stuff.
