Rob,

        Tom's advice on testing the generator output is good information to keep
in mind when you get the car running. You say the voltage drops to 2.8V
when you try to start it which means to me you have a high resistance (bad
connection) somewhere your battery lead to the solenoid or the wire from
that to the ignition switch. It might also be a bad connection on the
battery lead to ground on the chassis.
