Karen:
Not quite sure as to the specs of your distributer as all Alpine
distributor specs I have relate to 41...series distributers. The important
thing is to get your marks straightened out on the pulley and make sure
that the tdc mark has not slid around on the pulley. From there you can set
your initial timing at 10btdc static with a test lite and measure the
mechanical advance and vacuum advance as you increase engine speed to ensure
proper final advance.
I have not seen any MIatas in the junk yards here...have you? I have a set
of fiero seats and they were made to fit in a car with very limited space,
especially in the back. These seats are recarro like, can go way back for
tall people, have headrests with stereo speakers (that can be taken off
before re-upholstery if you like the stock alpine look) and can be placed
closer to the centerline of the car putting the driver directly in front of
the steering wheel .
I have recarro seats in my alpine from a 60's Lancia (italian) with
removable headrests, but I never take them off. When I install my tonneau
cover I fold both seats forward and the back of the headrests support the
tonneau helping to ensure the rain runs off the sides and does not pool up
in the center of the cover, leaking into the car. I'll attach a pic in a
separate message to you so you can see them.
If you need the specs for stock alpine IV and V distributors I have
them and would be happy to send them to you. Bob HERBEAM in San
Diego
