I just spoke with the guru Smitty about those aluminum front end wedges
that go between the cross member and the frame. He says that they came on
all Alpines. I know that VB specified which VIN's they came one. But, I
would trust Smitty over VB, I think.

He also said the different ride heights is simply the size of the springs.

So, maybe on the later SV's they got longer springs.
