The Holley 5200 is a licenced knock off of the original weber DXX series
carb.
It is a mass produced carb, mostly for american 4 cyl engines from
the mid to late 70s.
The Holley is inferior to the weber in several respects, some
of which relate to casting quality, and others relating to
parts availabilty.
If you are searching for a boneyard carb to save coin, look
for a real weber. You will find them on 71 to 74 pintos with 2000 CC
engines and 70 to 74 capri's with 2000, 2600 and 2800 CC engines.
You will also find them on front engined fiats (124 and 2000).
Dont mess with the rear engined fiats, these carbs are too small.
If you dont mind buying new, there is a weber distrubutor on the
east coast The Performance Parts Warehouse.
www.webercarburetors.com
They sell new 32/36 DGV carbs, but for the dollar, you could
buy a 40 DGAF carb which has two 40mm synchronous throttles
instead of staged ones.
Great bang for buck IMO.
As far as jetting goes, starting with the same jet sizes as came
stock for the solex will get you close, but the larger weber chokes
will require larger main jets by the ratio of choke cross sectional
area differences.
Hope this helps.
Are you sure you wouldnt rather inject it?
