Steve,
My previous instructions were in error, (my alibi is that it was late at night).
The oil pressure relief valve is visible as a hex head, (looks like a bolt head,
sometimes with a "pip" in the middle of the head) on the oil filter adaptor but it
is facing the inner fender, NOT facing the radiator, as I stated earlier. A little
bit hard to see, it is under the oil filter. It takes a 13/16 wrench or socket,
although the clearance is tight and might preclude the use of a socket.
The oil relief valve is a cartridge assembly. Once it is removed you will see that
it is comprised of an internal spring (not visible) which applies pressure against
the internal piston sleeve. This sleeve covers the relief hole when there is no oil
pressure applied (like when you are holding it in you hand). It doesn't take much
pressure to push the piston in. Use a wood dowel or a soft brass rod so as not to
scratch the internal bore. Mine slides easily. Maybe yours is stuck.
Good luck and I apologize for the error.
-Roger
