I dont know which car you have but the mounting points on the dah changed
somewhere between 1965 and 1967. The Later cars had the studs on the dash
further back and would account for the two inch difference you are
experiencing. I am not sure of any other differences between the mounting
points and can see where you might just think your tonneau has shrunk.
