I have a friend with an Alfa-Romeo 5 speed, (could be the same as a fiat
tranny). That box is about the same size as the alpine unit, had the
EXACT same size input shaft with the exact same number of splines.
The shifter was the integral type, in about the right position.
It did however have a flange type output shaft, with rubber ujoints.
Nothing fatal though.

It looked quite plausible to paralell cut an alpine bell housing,
the fixture/weld a stub alfa housing to the alpines.

The tranny sits in his back yard, likely another forgotten project.
Could be resurrected as a group project?

What do ya'll think bout that?
