think a good start would be to check the fuses.
clean up the contacts to the fuse ends and make sure the fuses are nice and
tight.
One fuse is on an ignition switched supply (white wire supply side to green))
the other fuse is unswitched (brown wire supply side to purple wire)

I'm not sure about this, and can't remember what series you have, but think the
(optional) lighter, (optional) radio , turn signal flasher unit,
are all supplied from one of the (green wire)
switched, fused supply terminals on the fuse box.
(along with stop lights ,(optional) reversing light, wiper motor..??)

licence plate light is part of rear sidelight circuit. If your rear sidelights
are both ok, check the terminal (should be a red wire)
on the no plate light and the bulb & bulb contacts.

panel lights *all* out suggests an open circuit in the panel light switch ,
or a missing earth to the instruments.
(the bodies of the oil, water, fuel, speedo and tach are joined together
with litle black wires, only one of them ( fuel???) is then earthed by a
wire to the metalwork of the dash support.)
Supply wire to the panel switch is red, it's switched output is red+white

Remind me what series you have,
find out exactly what is and isn't working, and I'll get back to you.

Andy
