Hi all:
A few days ago I asked for some help/ideas regarding the hard starting
of my Series V in cool/cold weather conditions. Thanks to all who
forwarded tips and ideas to help solve this challenge. After cleaning,
scraping and insuring that all electrical connections are "good", the
problem still exists. So, I called Jim at CBS Performance Automotive
where I originally purchased my Pertronx Ignitor. After discussing
symptoms with him, he indicated that it likely is the aftermarket coil
I'm using that is causing the problem. So, I'm putting the ignition
system back to "original" with a ballast resistor and new coil. I'll
let you know if this fixes the problem. As I indicated earlier, the
difficulty is only when starting from cold. I've been running the car
to work for the past several days, and once started, I have no
difficulty in restarting.
later - from South Dakota where it's not so sunny today. Makes me wish
I was in San Diego!
