Would this suggest that those of us with aluminum heads need not add
lead substitute to our fuel? There is a brief article in the Feb issue
of Classic & Sports Car that discusses preparing for the ban of leaded
gas in the UK after 1999. They suggest fitting your head with hardened
valve seats if lead substitutes don't control valve seat recession. I
think the key word here is hardened.
