Here is one of those e-mails from a year ago about white walls.

In a message dated 98-06-22 20:48:00 EDT, you write:

<< I really do not want to give up my Michelins
or pay the amount necessary to get Coker tires. I noticed in looking at
an
old Horn that one of the options that the factory offered at one time were
"fake" whitewall trim rings. Does anyone know anything about these? Just
thinking about them, it seems that they are a frisbee waiting to be flung.

Jay -
I must also confess to liking early Alpines with wide whites, and
will
have them on my Humbers when funds allow it!
The whitewall trims are quite popular in the UK. I see them
frequently
on cars in Practical Classics magazine (GREAT mag!), and they advertise
them
for sale. As follows:

WHITEWALL TRIMS - Bravado Automotive - 32.00 BPS set of 4, 37.50 BPS set
of
5, including VAT and post (UK, I would presume) Superwide and Colourwall
trims also available - please enquire. e-mail:
bravado(at)cerbernet.co.uk

As to flying off, from what I understand, the trims must be put
in
place before the tire bead is seated, and the tire pinches the trim between
itself and the rim. It would be pretty hard to spin that sucker off, I
would
imagine!

Hope this helps!
