Espen:

I would add sealant whereever you think it necessary to make things
water tight ( that's what I do anyway, since they didn't even have this
stuff in the '60's!) The only exception I make is when I know I might
have to remove something again soon, and want to reuse the seal.

However, I wouldn't change the windshield rubber unless you are having
leakage or corrosion problems, or need to replace the glass. This is not
fun to do and even a glass pro has a difficult time!
