A Monument to My Stupidity

Well I spent about 20 hours on my Alpine this weekend and I think that I can
say with confidence that I will have my car on the road this coming weekend.
Assuming of course that Curt at Classic Sunbeam can come through with some
parts. Of course if my stupidity continues to get in the way I may never
drive it.

Stupid Move # 1: After wrestling for hours over the last two weekends trying
to figure out how to get the approximately 7.2 million wires that are in the
engine bay all connected, I had a thought. Why don't I just pull the wiring
harness for my old III GT out of the box and look at it. Wouldn't you know
it, all of the bits were still connected together! In about two hours of
work I had a mostly functional wiring harness. Most of the lights are
working and if I nudge the key the engine will turn.

Stupid Move #2: After bugging everyone on the list last week about wiring my
Pertronix unit. I turned the instructions over and.......Wow! there were
three more steps to the installation. It is now all hooked up.

Stupid Move #3: Well let's just say that engines turn a lot easier with a
hand crank when you pull out the spark plugs. I am sure that skin will grow
back in no time.

Stupid Move #4: You can connect all of the throttle linkage stuff a lot
easier when your carbs are not on backwards.

I pass these stupidities on in hopes of exorcising the demon from my life.

Kurt
