if it is making noise and it wobbles, definitely replace it. one way to
tell if it is really the water pump is to get a long screwdriver and use it
as a stethoscope by placing the pointed end against parts of the engine (or
water pump) and the non-pointed end up against your ear. do be careful not
to get it in the way of anything that moves or creates electrical currents
while this is going on. my pump was going out for about 6 months before I
got wise and replaced it. the cooling improves dramatically when the water
actually get moving, imagine that:-)
