I'm rebuilding a 1725cc 1966 Singer Vogue block to ser 5 alpine specification.
the Singer's sump is, I think, all wrong.
Can I just use the sump from my 'spares' ser 4 alpine 1592cc engine ?
The bearing cap to sump oil-seals will be the same?
No oil pump fouling?
And simply block off the spare dipstick hole next to the oil filter?
that extra half pint oil capacity in the ser 3/4 compared to the 5,
that's mostly just for the early filter, right?
Thanks again, everybody.
Hoping for another cry of "IT LIVES!!" in a few months.
Andy
p.s. Sunday morning, I walked into a shop one mile from my house
and bought a new-old-stock AC glass topped fuel pump, with primer.
13 quid. (20 USD) ;-)
