Many Thanks to those who replied.
Could anyone provide a link to a photograph or illustration of a Series 5
Alpine sump?
or anybody got a electronic photo of a ser 5 sump or complete engine? (side
view)
or could somebody scan me the correct page from
the Ser 5 parts or ser 5 workshop manual?
(I think the drawn illustrations in the sales literature may not be accurate)
I'll find out tonight if my Singer vogue block
is from the 66 "series" vogue (good) or from the slightly later "Hunter"
style vogue (bad- sump won't fit the alpine)
thanks, folks.
I should explain.
(the car came with
- a Ser 4 alpine engine, complete but worn
-a ser 5 alpine block, no sump,
(no bearing caps, so useless)
- and a very good 1966 singer vogue block,
with a ser 5 Alpine alloy head, and an unknown sump.
I'm hoping a previous owner fitted the Alpine sump (& cam, etc) to the
vogue engine when they fitted the Alpine head.
Anyhoo, thanks again.
