Many thanks to all who have shared kind words and advice during my
recent tribulations. It is much appreciated. Needless to say this
experience has been very frustrating for me and the empathy does
provide a measure of relief.

I would like to ask the advice of you
metallurgists/machinists/engineers out there....does the lack of
hardened lifters provide me with with a strong basis for the cause of
the failure, bearing in mind the other problems listed in my previous
post? Does the fact that Isky does not recommend the use of
non-hardened lifters give me sufficient cause to place blame on my
machinist for not using them? He has stated to me that it is a regular
practice for them not to harden refaced lifters. Also, how can I
strengthen my case that the bending of the pushrods and the poor oil
pressure did NOT (significantly) contribute to the lifter failure?
Lastly, how can it be determined that it was the cam to blame if in
fact it was defective?

Christopher
