Hello Everyone:
I am in immediate need, for a Series V transmission rebuild, of a
3rd/4th gear shift fork in good condition. First/second gear forks still
seem to be available from the usual sources, but not 3rd/4th. If anyone
has one (or a set with a good 1st/2nd fork too), I'd really appreciate
hearing from you. This is the only thing holding me up at present from
completing my overdrive trans. rebuild.
Additionally, does anyone have a known good 4:22 differential they'd
part with? Mine makes serious howling noises above 3500 RPM when warm
and I don't know what's involved in curing it. A good used one might be
the ticket for me. I am also debating switching over to a 3:89 rear but
I wonder if this will result in RPMs being too low in 4th overdrive at
60-70 mph, and giving up more acceleration through the gears than I'd
like. Input from the group would be appreciated. I know we discussed
this a while back but now that the moment of truth is arriving, I need
to make a decision in the next couple of days.
