Fellow Beamers,
I may have the car. I am in the process of cleaning her up now.
If you are truly interested, perhaps we can get set up appointments to look at her - in a couple of weeks. I still have some very minor details that I am working on before she can be driven. (You may recall my recent call for help regarding the carburettor tune.)

I own a very clean late Series V (~mid-1967, VIN B395015031 LRX ). She's mostly stock, especially the mechanics: dual Strombergs, functioning Girling brake booster, original rebuilt engine, new carpet, original factory hard-top, original tonneau, aftermarket stainless headers and exhaust. She's wearing Pirelli P77s on all four feet. Everything but the rearend has been gone through during her life with me. All other systems are recently refurbished. I have all the receipts from the day of my purchase and then some that predate that. I believe that I have records that indicate that I am the fourth owner. (I am going on memory, I haven't been through them in a while.) I have the original owner's manual and shop record/warrantee book....and of couse, I have a well-worn "bootlegged" factory shop manual that falls open to the key tuning pages...

I repainted her in 1985. Her original color was Orchid Green (Rootes Code 109), but that "Exorcist Green" color had to go...She is now a real head turner in very proud 69/70 Mercedes Signal Red with black interior and black tops. And her bumpers were rechromed at that time. I did "personalize" her further with the substitution of a Carpathian Elm wormwood veneer-over-black walnut dashboard that my father expertly and lovingly crafted for me from using the original dashboard as a template. Very tasteful and beautifully understated. She has very low miles and has been garaged over the last 15 years since her repaint. And she is straight.

I must caution you though. I am in a severe state of high ambivalence and anxiety. I have fallen in "lust" with the new Porsche Boxster. And after driving the Boxster a couple of times now, I desire her very much. I am still in love with my Alpine, but my wife says it is one or the other...not both. So the Alpine must become the lever for my acquisition of a new Boxster. If I release her, I am adamant about sending her to a good home...to someone who will love and care for her in the manner way I have for these many years....I will not send her to be an "organ donor" for a Tiger rebuild, even though I respect and admire Tigers and their justifiably proud owners. I don't even know what to ask for her yet. I'll look to the market for help in deciding what I should accept.

One could easily conclude that what I am saying is: I could change my mind. One would be correct. This car will not leave me easily. ;-(

I am...
