Hello Alpines:
Finally, my Series V is getting ready to absorb the last remaining money
and time I have for it and to revert back into my daily driver again (I
hope!). I'll give a complete report on its trials and tribulations in a
few days after I make sure all the bugs are finally out.
In the meantime, here's a question for the group. Since the new head
gasket was installed, the motor has about 150 miles on it. It has been
started, warmed up and turned off probably 35 or 40 times in that
mileage. Is it too soon to re-torque the head and re-adjust the valves?
I think I recall 500 miles being what the "book" calls for.
Finally, since time and money have temporarily run out on my Alpine
money pit, I am reluctantly putting up for sale a set of 2 42 DCOE
Weber side draught carburetors which I had acquired to install on the
car. The "choke" plate on one of the carbs is stuck and will need to be
freed up but otherwise they apear in good shape. The carbs come with
some linkage plates and parts, but the buyer will need to fabricate or
buy some parts to complete the linkage, and of course acquire or
fabricate an intake manifold. Asking price is $200+ shipping.
Thanks,
Steve Sage
