My hood used to pop open, particularly when I would enter a driveway
at an angle and the chassis flexed.
What I found was that the striker pin is captured by the latch blade,
and in my case (perhaps yours too), the back side of the pin was not
sharp and flat as it should be, and the blade didnt hold the pin in place.

I Removed the pin, then took a file to make the backside of the pin
flat and sharp, to prevent the slight angle that had formed from wedging
the latch blade open.
This and a carefull adjustment was the end to the problem.
