Perhaps a float is full of fuel, or the floats are somehow not shutting off
the fuel.
When this happens, the stroms overflow into the aircleaners through a bowl
vent
passage, and you know the rest.
I had a similar experience, although no fire while inside my garage.
If the exahaust were hotter I'd have probably had one too.
The carbs had just been fully rebuilt prior to thier indiscretion.
My internal voice told me to dump the stroms, and fuel injection went on.
