Just got back a couple hours ago [Monday PM] and want to give a quick report
now and maybe add some details and other items later.
Listers: We had a great get together Wednesday PM after the program. I
wrote down the names of those there and will list them if I can find the
paper in my suitcase. I was lucky to meet a dozen or so of you guys and it
was great.
My unofficial tally has Christopher Albers as the list prize
winner scoring in concours stock Alpine and some other recognitions too.
Congrats to him and hope he can fill us in on the exact details. Great car
and quite a sound system.
Cars:	With about 40 Alpines present I understand this to be the largest
group of Alpines ever in the USA. There were 3 Imps, including lister Brent
Kasl's car, plus several other touring models. In addition to the 80 or so
Tigers there was the Ken Miles protype Tiger recently restored [interesting
to see a finned Tiger with an Alpine logo and a steering box], a Lister
Tiger, and Brett Simpsons JAL #00001 Tiger.
Rally: Lots of fun in Yellowstone Park. I was taking a photo of my car
at the marker for the Continental Divide when up behind came a Rapier with a
family of four, just like Lord Rootes would have wanted. Then, a moment
later from the other direction arrived Joel from Philadelphia [sorry don't
recall his last name] with his son in their Tiger with Rick McLeod of Sunbeam
Specialties in the back. If you have met Rick you know he is very tall and
it was something to see him riding in the back like that. Also I had a very
close encounter with a buffalo on the road.
Autocross:	I think the best story will be told by Kevin [are you out
there] who has a righthand drive Series V which Rosemary Smith asked to
drive. He rode with her on the first run. Kevin needs to report on this
experience. He did not ride with her on her second run. She told him "you
are not invited".
My Car: After an engine rebuild and installation of an overdrive I
had high hopes which were fully met. Many thanks and total credit to Jim
Leach who directed the project! Drove about 2000 miles and the only trouble
was a broken speedo cable at 1400 miles covered and one boil over at Dunraven
Pass when I got behind a camper doing 20 mph but after cooling off I crossed
the 8893 foot pass OK. On the freeway, what a pleasure to cruse at 70 - 75
mph at 3200 - 3400 rpm with power to pass.
