Every 2 years it seems I am changing the gasket on the header tank on my
Series II Alpine. It leaks around the edges to the point where the 3
bolts are gummy and change color. Last time I used a black paper gasket
with ultra gray gasket silicone. Today I used a 1/64 cork material with
ultra gray silicone. Of course the cork split at bolt edges but I'll let
it set up overnight before I try it at operating temp. What other
options are there or am I doing this wrong? Please advise on some other
techniques to join these two areas together with confidence. Brent Kasl
