<< With the help of Rob Nanzig, I installed a Pertronix Ignition system on
my Series II Alpines this morning. I have kept this car positive ground
but no problem with wiring for this unit. At first start up was sluggish
as the timing was off and rough but after some minor adjustments to the
distributor plate and a short drive all seems well. It might be my
imagination but it seems to idle quieter. This unit cost $89 FOB from
CBS Automotive in Colorado Springs. $10 discount to TE/AE members. Might
be worth looking into since they guarantee the unit for 30 days on
trial. Lets keep these Alpines on the road and reliable. Brent Kasl >>
Be sure to carry along a spare set of points and condenser (and the screw to
hold it down) anyway. There've been one or two posts of these units going
bad.
Mine's been working A-OK for about three years or 35,000 miles.
