Yes - different times and different markets. I think this was another area
where Rootes was a bit ahead of their BMC competitors with the tech trends.
Not that I'm a big fan of vinyl seats, but by '59 it was a good alternative
for the price point they were trying to hit.

My daughter and I had been talking about what to do with the red/white
interior once the car is back to its original wedgewood blue and the
vegetarian says: "Hey, how about leather...??" I've never quite figured it
out: sit on 'em, wear 'em, but don't eat 'em. I suppose she may be only a
journeyman veggie. I told her leather wasn't an option if she wanted to
keep it original, so was interested in confirming whether or not that was
correct after seeing this thread.
