Terry:
From what you are saying, it sounds as though you have checked only one
side of the circuit. The part of circuit connected to the switch only
operates the relay, and the dim test light with the relay clicking means
that the relay is operating and the transmission switch is probably O.K.
Your problem is to check the other wire coming out of the relay to the
solenoid and then to ground, to see if the solenoid is open, shorted, or
has a bad ground.
If the solenoid is operating, then it sounds like you have a mechanical
problem.
